The hip joint is a common source of pain which affects the ability to walk and can severely affect the patients quality of life. A good way of approaching hip pain is to identify causes from inside the joint such as arthritis, labral and cartilage injuries, and causes from outside the joint such a bursitis, tendon tears and strains, referred pain from the back or abdomen.

There are very effective non-operative and surgical solutions to the above problems the key is making the correct diagnosis and targeting that problem.

Trochenteric bursitis

Trochanteric bursa is superficial to the hip abductor muscles and deep to the iliotibial band. This can become inflamed and painful.
